Wearing a pedometer is an easy way to track your steps each day. Put it on first thing in the morning and wear it until bed time. You’ll be amazed at how quickly the steps add up! Record your daily steps at www.shannonmillerlifestyle.com/walk-fit and earn rewards from our program sponsors.
Back to TopFor the best results, wear your pedometer on your waist in a line straight up from the middle of your knee. Either side of the body is fine. If you’re wearing a dress, hook it on your belt or your underwear. Many pedometers work if worn on your ankle attached to your sock.
Back to Top1. Take your pedometer out of the plastic wrap
2. Pull the plastic strip to activate battery
3. Clip the pedometer onto your pants or a belt just above your hip bone. (it’s important to place the pedometer in the proper place in order to get a correct step count)
4. Push the button once and START STEPPING!
Our goal is to take 10,000 steps per day to achieve and maintain a healthy and fit lifestyle. Get started with these easy steps:
Week 1: Get your baseline.
During week 1 put your pedometer on each morning when you wake up. Wear it throughout the day as you go about your regular routine. Take off your pedometer at bed time and log your mileage by going to www.shannonmillerlifestyle.com or write down the amount of steps taken to log at a more convenient time. Create a habit by logging your steps at the same time each day.
After one week, take the average amount of steps you walk per day, this is your baseline.
Week 2 and on:
Once you have your baseline you will begin to increase your steps each week. Each week you should add 500 steps to your average. For example, if your baseline is 2,000 steps your goal for week 2 is 2,500 steps.

You asked, Shannon answered!
“Absolutely! I started this program because I know how much walking has helped me. Running can be intimidating but walking I can do anytime. I started doing a lot more walking when pregnant with my son. That continued with stroller walks. After buying my first pedometer I realized I could log thousands of steps throughout the day even when I wasn’t technically exercising. A long conference call, yep, I’m walking. Other favorites are walking to the grocery store, shopping and taking the stairs.”

Back to TopSounds great! Walk, run, skip, shuffle or dance. You’ll benefit by any kind of forward motion. Depending on your pedometer it should keep track of any of these activities!
